COMMUNICATION TOOLS

 COMMUNICATION TOOLS

Subject: Information Technology

Target Audience: Sixth Formers

Technology has altered education in that it has made it more accessible. E-books, audiobooks, movies, podcasts, and other forms of information are now accessible to everyone with a reliable internet connection. The improvement of communication and collaboration in our classrooms is also a result of technology. Since we are no longer confined to the four walls of the classroom, we are no longer constrained by physical space for learning.

With the advancements in technology, the ways of communicating also changed, so now teachers have a great number of communication tools to choose from.

*        For synchronous and asynchronous connections with their students, faculty members have a wide range of communication tool alternatives at their disposal. A synchronous audio/video conferencing application with the ability to share screens, chat, and more, three of which are:

  • Google Meet - you can create a Google Meet meeting using Google Meet for Blackboard and send your students the URL. Users may start Google Meet sessions right inside any Learn course thanks to our integration.

  • Blackboard Collaborate - with the help of your computer, tablet, or mobile device, Blackboard Collaborate is a strong all-in-one platform that gives you access to an immersive human experience wherever you are.

  •  Zoom- is simple to arrange and utilize with your academic classes thanks to integration with Canvas.

Careers in Information and Communication Technology

Careers in ICT

Subject: Information Technology

Target Audience: Sixth Formers

According to (Cullen et al., 2011) The ICT industry is constantly evolving and new technologies are continuously being introduced. The future of IT is bright. Since we are moving more and more into the technological era, opportunities are constantly being produced in this dynamic, expanding industry.

It's good to know the different career streams available in information technology (IT) and information and communications technology (ICT). Each job has a distinctive set of required skills and personalities.

Some of the Information and Communication Technology Careers are:

Data Analyst

Through the gathering, analysis, and interpretation of data, these experts build understanding and acquire knowledge. They discover issues and aid in their resolution while working for corporations and other kinds of organizations. As a data analyst, you'll complete statistical analysis of data using your knowledge of programming and computer tools.

TECHNICIANS FOR DATA CENTRE

You play a crucial role in keeping up computer hardware networks and data servers as a data center technician. To maintain the safety and security of a company's data, a data center technician is required.

ADMINISTRATOR OF DATABASES

DBAs oversee the performance, integrity, and security of databases. They guarantee that data standards are uniform, that users may access data as needed, and that any issues users may have been resolved. Database planning and development may also be done by these experts.

DATABASE ANALYST

Database analysts create, test, and implement databases. In doing so, they organize and analyze the information gathered.

ARTIFICAL INTELLIGENCE

      ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE- AI

Subject: Information Technology

Target Audience: Sixth Formers

Artificial intelligence (AI): What Is It?

According to (Frankenfield, 2022) "Artificial intelligence (AI) is the emulation of human intelligence in devices that have been designed to behave and think like humans."The phrase can also be used to refer to any computer that demonstrates characteristics of the human intellect, like learning and problem-solving.

Robots are typically the first thing that comes to mind when most people hear the word artificial intelligence, and this is valid. Artificial intelligence is founded on the idea that human intelligence can be described in a way that makes it simple for a computer to duplicate it and carry out activities of any complexity. Artificial intelligence aims to emulate cognitive processes in humans. In other words, machines can perform tasks that humans can.

The types of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence is classified into two types: strong and weak.

Strong artificial intelligence systems - are those that can perform tasks that are considered human-like. These are typically more complex and difficult systems. They are configured to deal with these situations in which they may be compelled to solve problems without the intervention of a human. These systems are used in applications such as self-driving cars and hospital operating rooms.

Weak artificial intelligence - encapsulates a system designed to perform a single task. Weak AI systems include chatbots as well as intelligent machines like Amazon's Alexa and Apple's Siri.

Programming Languages in AI

The main instrument for investigating and developing computer programs that can be used to emulate cognitive processes like learning, reasoning, and comprehending symbolic information in context is programming languages in artificial intelligence (AI). Programming languages including Java, Python, JavaScript, Lisp, and R are utilized in AI.
